Ambition for the Company: setting up successors for success A compelling Modesty Unwavering resolve... to do what must be done The Window and the Mirror Explanation: Ambition for the company: The person's goal in life is to make the lives of those around him better. Humility figures strongly in this. in the business model, if he has a choice between bettering himself at the company's expense, and bettering the company, without bettering himself, he will better the company. A compelling modesty: The person does not care who gets the credit, and actually prefers to give it to others, as long as the results happen. Unwavering resolve: The person will go through whatever effort he needs to to see that what needs to be done is done. The Window and the Mirror: when things are good, the person looks through the window to see who is responsible for the success. when things are bad, the person looks in the mirror to see who needs to do better in order to make things better. While these are drawn from a study on corporations, they also apply to smaller scale endeavors.

In no particular order.... 1.compassion/empathy, 2.the courage of their convictions and the ability to act on them(bravery), 3.perseverance, 4.strength that allows for human frailty, 5.optimism/positive oulook/faith in the possibility of change for the better.

Self discipline: This for me is number one. Without this nothing else matters because you don't have the ethics to do it. Self discipline to me means that you are strong and stand for something no matter what the temptations. You are more powerful that your surroundings. You can say no to friends, to drugs, to adultery, to being gluttonous. This is the ultimate power in life. You are stronger than the world! Sense of humor/fun: It makes you a better person inside and to be around. This world is rough you must be able to laugh and make it fun or you'll be angry, bitter, and no fun to be around. Pride: in yourself, in your work, in your reputation, and in your family. We must hold ourselves in high regard so that we will not settle for less. It's what keeps us from being rude, or evil. We are better than that. Compassion: without it the world would be a cruel, lonely, and evil place to live. It makes this world warm and full of joy. The most important thing in this world is other people. If you don't care they won't either. If you are mean to people you are making this world a worse place to live in. You must understand and feel for others so that they feel comforted. Positive work ethic: Before this life is through you will have to do a lot of stuff, hard stuff. And, without a positive spin on it you will hate every minute of it. You will have to work into you 60's you will have to exercise and eat right, the list goes on. If you cannot make it fun and enjoy it life is going to suck! You must enjoy going to the gym. You must enjoy studying. Like Mary Poppins says "a spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down". Off the top of my head. Just my 2 cents worth.
