I am new to my faith in Christ, and There is a lot that I am confused about. I know that walking in the light is walking with the spirit. I know that walking in the dark is walking in sin. I also know that once you believe Christ is the savior, you are saved/your sins are paid for.
Romans chapters 6-8 and other verses similar to those are confusing
me. Romans6:14 "For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace." does that mean once you are baptized and have crucified your flesh that you will no longer have desires of the flesh? Or does it mean that since sin is no longer your master that you are no longer under the punishment of the law. For example, if you give into lust when you are saved and walking with the spirit and you repent with all your heart, you will not be judged under the law for your actions? Or does it mean if you are walking with the spirit yu will no longer lust.
Another verse that I have trouble understanding is this 1John 2:24 (NIV) See that what you have heard from the beginning remains in you. If it does, you also will remain in the Son and in the Father.
Is it possible that once you are in the son that there is a possibility that you will not remain in the son if you stray from the word? I also read online, I forgot what verse, but I read a verse saying something to the effect of what I just wrote. That if you allow yourself to sin, you are no longer godly and eventually god will stop walking with you.
I am just confused on how everything plays into itself. I am not yet baptized, so I have not yet officially crucified the flesh to walk with the spirit. Also, the bible also says that you cannot be saved if Jesus is not in you. How can you tell if Jesus is/is not in you? Does walking in the light just mean you will be open with god about everything you do, or does it mean throwing sin aside and living without temptation. Also, if it is our human nature to sin then by crucifying the flesh/by getting baptized, we will no longer be influenced by sin and our nature? Or does it mean that those things will no longer play a factor whether we go to heaven/hell?
Anything that helps answer all/some of the questions is much appreciated. Thank you.
