What going on & what does he want from me?

I've been friends with this guy, Steve for a year or so. We had an unofficial 'thing' going on first semester for a few months, it died off, we fought & stopped talking. He'd look at my facebook stuff daily though, including all this friends, and brought me up a couple times with my own friend. Steve & I eventually went back to being friends a few months back. We went to a 'fair' with a few friends & he ended up getting beyond drunk & he kept putting his arms around me/my waist, pulling me in for hugs/putting his face in my chest, yelling out I was his girlfriend, "we're dating!", "I know you like me" etc. He ended up giving me a kiss on the cheek. Him, our friends & I ended up hanging out again & Steve would go out of his way to do everything for me. He follows me around, makes up dumb questions to start up conversations, begs me to hang out with him constantly..etc
But he has this whole thing where he's either himself, and awesome to hang out with or he tries to be "cool" and tries to party, drinks constantly, whatever. Whenever someone makes fun of him & calls him a loser, etc he becomes immediately defensive & gets mad over it.

My friend taunted him with that, because he constantly tells us he's going to party, oh girls, etc etc. In response he told her he had sex with a girl during the time we had a little thing going. My friend told me, I msg'd him & told him off. He went back to my friend, telling her he didn't do it & swears to this day he didn't. But then a day or two after he tells her he never actually had feelings for me. (When he always called me amazing & beautiful, and was respectful of my boundaries, he always initiated cuddling, kisses, kissed my forehead, said he loved me of his own accord. He would go out of his way for me. So it doesn't make sense!) Ever since I messaged him, angry we haven't spoken. I noticed him & all his friends have been looking at my facebook again, in class when it's time to go he makes sure to line up directly behind me/my desk, inches behind my butt basically (when he's on the other side of the room), his friend all of the sudden is approaching me & talking to me, I saw him looking me up & down, he stares at me wi/ a widened eyes, lifted eyebrows, flared nostrils & parted lips look, whenever I catch eyes with him he just stares with direct eye-contact until I look off. He looks over at me in class, He puts photos up on facebook of things he knows I like, but I know for a fact he doesn't like. He texted my friend during our "spare block" asking if "we were in our spot" he shows up, asks a fake-dumb question, and I noticed he walked by our spot 3 or more times. My friend added him on facebook months ago, and he just accepted now..

I hate to admit it, but I do love him & still do. But his actions & words seem to be different things. I don't understand what he's doing or what he wants from me.

Well I guy i like is similar. Some guys try to be"cool" and are complete idiots. Hang out with him one on one and see what he does(if he's nice and all) if he is, tell him to be himself
