The bleakest landscape in the U.S. can be found where miners have torn away the earth's surface to get at coal deposits. Huge piles of gray debris, aptly called "orphan soil banks," stand like gravestones over land so scarred and acidic that only rodents can live there. The sight is not rare. Using dynamite, bulldozers, great augers and earth movers, working on the surface rather than below ground, strip miners now produce 37% of the nation's annual coal output. They have already ripped up more than 1,800,000 acres. By 1980, if present trends continue, an area roughly the size of Connecticut will have been blasted, gouged, scraped and quarried for coal. After such mining, the land is usually abandoned.

Japan’s discharge of some 11,500 tons of highly radioactive contaminated water into the ocean Monday.
Amid their fears that so much radioactive water could endanger marine life and contaminate the human food chain.

The Japanese foreign ministry said that it will leak the contaminated water in small amounts over five days and measure the radiation levels in nearby waters as it continues to discharge.

Tokyo also said it will reconsider the discharge once the detected levels exceed the legally permitted amount and look into whether it is against international law.

In just the past century we have managed to severely reduce the breadth of this ecosystem. This has created problems not only in the countries of these forests, but to the rest of the world as well. Four-fifths of the nutrients of the rainforests are in the vegetation. The soil is nutrient poor and becomes eroded and unproductive within a few years of being cleared. After logging, the land is generally used for farming, and then when it goes fallow, is used for cattle grazing. Yet the soil is so poor that even cattle grazing exhausts it after a few years. Then you have dry, barren land which is good for practically nothing except erecting buildings. It will never recover, especially when it is not allowed to coppice. When the land is cleared and barren, less rain falls and the whole ecosystem of the region begins to change.

Creation of disaster and destruction that is... so saddened by this,.... what God
created so beautiful,... see what arrogant prideful mere man, thinking they know better than the Creator, has done .

Blessed Be The Name of THE LORD
HE REIGNS
