I'm thinking of something like the Black and Decker ratchet wrench, where you twist the handle like a motorcycle throttle forward and backward but the ratchet head turns one way only, on both the forward and the backward strokes. So, to be perfectly clear, the wrench first converts clockwise motion into clockwise motion, and on the reverse stroke converts counterclockwise motion into clockwise motion. Is there a common name for a gear like that or is it patented by Black and Decker?
