What is a good college?

I want to get into Animal Science. Now, when you hear (read) that you may think a Vet or Zoologist, but both of those have to do with dissection or seeing an animal in pain, and those are things I want to avoid. I have an interest in a career as a Naturalist but that career is so rare at almost no college offers it and most people don't even know what it is; even I can only find minimal information on it. I checked out a college information site that i found out through school but I still can't find a college that sounds right. the last issue is that my family is not rich and I don't make the best grades so i'm not sure if I can get a good scholarship. I can't say i care about where the school is as long as it's not very big (under 3,000 students) and doesn't cost an arm, a leg, and my head. If you have anything in mind; i'm open to almost any school that falls under what I just requested. Also, if it help with scholarship suggestions I am an X army brat' my dad retired about 2 years ago, and my sister is in the army reserves while my brother in law (her husband) in active duty. My future maybe on the keys of whomever reads this; so please, help.
