What is better to take at A-level, Sociology or Psychology?

Postby newyddilyn60 » Sat Feb 25, 2012 4:49 pm

I am going into college soon and I have decided these for my A-levels:

Law
History
Sociology
Philosophy & Ethics

I was wondering if Psychology is better than Sociology because I want to be a Lawyer when I'm older. Please give me some advice and the pros and cons of Sociology and Psychology because they both seem good for a Law-based career. I want to be mainly a divorce Lawyer, but criminal seems interesting as well.

Feel free to suggest other A-level subjects that will be good for a Law-based career as well with as much detail as possible.

I also want to live in America and become a Lawyer there, too. Is there a good state to work/live in to work as a Lawyer? How long do I have to apply for a visa and how much are houses/apartments in the state as well? Does Canada seem like a good choice, too?

Psychology is more 'respected', but since you have History and Philosophy which are very respected subjects already, you can choose which one you prefer.

If you want to live in the United States then you must study law and do the vocational training there at a good university or do your law degree here in the UK and do a conversion course afterwards in the US, the UK and US are two different countries with two different legal systems, even if the US system is based on the UK one. Actually, even the states have different laws.

Canada is more similar to the UK, but even the Canadians have a different law system to us.

To be honest, I don't think you should be asking on here, find a legal or a student forum.
