What is the difference in officers for the marines?

Postby salvadore94 » Fri Jul 20, 2012 11:31 am

I want to become a military lawyer, and to do that I've learned that I'm supposed to become an officer and while researching I also saw that there is commission officers and warrant officers. So here is my question; how many different types of officers are there in the Marines and which one do I have to accomplish to become a military lawyer? How long and what is the best way to get there quickly and efficiently.

Warrant officers are required to serve a minimum of 8 years as enlisted before they can apply for a warrant. What you want is commissioned officer. You'll need a law degree to apply for the law option. You'll be required to get a first class PFT score just like any other Marine officer.

Go to www.marineofficer.com They explain all the commissioning options.

Apparently you've been watching too many reruns of JAG. Military lawyers are just like any other lawyer. They have to go to college and law school and be accepted to practice law.

By the time you get through all that, you may be old enough to understand the difference between a Warrant Officer and a Commissioned Officer.

Lilly, you ground, aviation and law: The Marine Corps PLC Program is great!! Candidates go to six weeks after their freshman and junior years. Your TIS (Time in Service) starts when you sign and you will be paid over four when you go to the Basic School(TBS) and that a big deal. Marine Corps Officers pick their jobs at TBS except Aviation and Law. You get your commission at your graduation. No uniforms just stay in shape, make the grades and stay out of trouble.Contact your Marine Corps Officer Selection Officer (OSO) soon. Good luck.

You may eligible for the Marine Corps Aviation or Law Option so check it out.

@Crazy Horse...I'm sure some of those 19 and 20 year old Army Warrants flying you in Vietnam didn't have 8 years enlisted experience..

And I'm just busting your balls CH...I respect the h*ll out of you
