What kind of proof can I get from a supposed "Consumer Advocate"?

Postby leonie36 » Wed Jul 11, 2012 9:06 am

There was an issue with a client at my business and they have reached out to a "Consumer Advocate" before speaking with a lawyer. The "Consumer Advocate" would like to have a phone conference with me but before speaking with her I would like to have proof of her actually being a Consumer Advocate. I had my assistant ask the "Consumer Advocate" to fax proof but she said that everything was done independently, she was not with any sort of company (not even the NACA), and had nothing to show as proof of Consumer Advocate. Is this true? Is there anything to prove I am not just speaking to a random person calling themselves a Consumer Advocate? Please help; I would not like to get the company lawyer involved due to expenses but if I must I will. Thank you in advance for your help.

Inform the advocate that she must provide credentials or you won't work with her.
