What laws do I want to read up on to establish a country? Maritime?

Hey, who hasn't come up with this one at some point :)

Wondering where I'd look to see how to start my own country based off a floating platform,

International? Is there a set of laws if you never agreed to them? (Laws against starting your own country on new land? (Which seems like Bull)

This has been tried before and was rejected by world courts and international maritime jurisdictional courts...

The amount of money that would be needed to bribe these governing bodies is beyond most... Also you would need a defensive force, because what is to stop neighboring countries from coming over and taking over our platform?

Establishing a currency would be needed as well and starting a new one that is accepted in the world markets, again, takes a huge amount of payoff money.

Better, if you want solitude, find a nice piece of land in the middle of no where and live a nice quiet life. If you think you can somehow escape from the tyrannical governing bodies out there, I am sorry, you cannot, except, that is, to stay under thier radar enough to not be a threat or bother them at all...

It has happened but it is terrible expensive. There is no world government so who's laws do you want to read from?

The issue with starting your own country is based solely on getting other countries to accept that you are a country and hoping that others don't say you are their citizen under their laws.

If you can establish a country, you can make your own laws.
