I have no problem with gay marriage, I oppose abortion, I support much lower taxes for minimum wage workers (simply raising minimum wage doesn't work in my opinion, prices for goods would be altered accordingly) and more regulations on big corporations (few to none on small businesses), kids can pray in school all they want so long as they avoid being disruptive to others, but the administration can't MAKE anyone pray, people being morally decadent doesn't really bother me that much; it's a personal choice. Were I elected president, I would attempt to impose some new sort of taxes on big businesses immediately, then offer cuts, exemptions, and other benefits if they employed at or above a certain number of employees, or fulfilled other prerequisites. Ending our dependence on foreign oil (or rather, what oil companies want us to believe is our dependence on foreign oil) would be a top priority of mine; as such, I would also put into place a program that partially funds smaller oil companies to drill in the Gulf since apparently no one wants the oil anymore. Regulations and inspections would apply very much, what with the BP situation, after all. I would put into place a law that offers an ultimatum to big business; sell patents that you haven't done anything with in a certain time period to the government (with a little bit of interest), or start doing something with them. My reasoning for that is this; did you know that, even though the tech is a little far away, electric cars are currently being researched? Unfortunately, oil companies happen to own the majority of the patents, and are doing nothing with them; this research could create jobs and end our dependence on crude oil, how is it fair that, with all the money oil companies make, they can't find the time to do anything with these patents while Americans lose jobs? Depending on where the energy comes from, harmful emmissions would hopefully also decrease with these cars. This is all assuming I have congressional support since they make our laws. Of course, that's a bit dubious since the corporations own our politicians. Thoughts? When I say party, I mean liberal, conservative, moderate, libertarian, or populist. Thanks much :)
