What Is The One Software You Really Want?

Postby willy » Wed Jan 29, 2014 2:13 am

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. I still miss the Workplace Shell. I bought OS/2 2.0 when it was released, and I eagerly awaited 2.1, 3.0, and 4.0. It took a bit of getting used to, but in days I was hooked. Many of Win95's "innovations" had been in OS/2 for 3 years, or more. Though Win2000/XP and Gnome offer some of it and have some things it didn't, the Workplace Shell remains the only GUI I truly like. So the software I REALLY want is an open source port of the Workplace Shell for *nix systems.   Keroberos's Recommendations Os/2: The Workplace Shell : A User's Guide and Tutorial for Release 2.0 Amazon List Price: $24.95 Used from: $1.25 Os/2 Configuration Techniques: Cracking the Workplace Shell Amazon List Price: $50.00 I don't have these particular books, but not much remains available anymore. PnL said: 1 Hummingbird, regarding your answer "parallels for mac": cool...well looks like the used price is 50$...maybe you can gift it to yourself for x'mas or something? I am sure you can find it even cheaper on some software deal sites. The software itself sounds like an excellent resource for MAC owners though. 77 months ago
