What Should My Name Be, Cio Or Director Of Software Development? I'm Concerned About Such And Responsibility.

I'm discussing a function offer you for a startup. I am going to be creating it in the ground and reach pick and decide on my name. I have been informed that CIO isn't great, duty-sensible. Could it be that bad?

What Should My Title Be, Cio Or Director Of Software Development? I Am Worried About Liability And Such.

TheLightWorks said: 1 I guess the key question is what the job description is. if your job is to take care of the software development end of it, then DSD is a reasonable title. if you are running the whole company(including leading the board of directors) then you will be the CEO. personally, if this is a hardware/software development company, and you want it to be eye catching, I'd lean towards "Alpha Geek" 50 months ago

I think you are making far too much of a title. There are no laws that state the official duties/requirements of the CIO. Therefore your liability will not be increased or decreased by such a title. Do the job you are paid to do, and do it well. What is the problem?

Liability would be the same regardless of your title. The directors and officers are theoretically exposed to some liability for failure to perform their fiduciary duty, and some companies buy "directors and officers" insurance to cover that. Startups can't afford it, but it also means that startups aren't worth suing.
