Postby shadrach » Mon Apr 04, 2011 5:46 am

There are different areas of specialization in law.
Which area of law is best to study?
For example, crminal, commerical, international, etc.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks,

Whatever interests you more. You are the one that is going to have to deal with situations in that field for most of your working career probably... so go with what interests you, and what area you want to make a difference in!

It depends on your interest. I love criminal law. Family law is a close second. I would find commercial law boring, but again it depends on you. What interests you?

Study the law you like or you will hate life working ungodly hours at something you could care less about.

That would really be an individual choice depending on interest, salary desired, likes/dislikes and desire for job satisfaction.

I think that actually depends on where your interests lie. Civil Law, Criminal law and international law could be really exciting while family and commercial law tend to be somewhat boring. But again it really depends on your interests. I have quite a coupla friends who are criminal lawyers and they seem to remain charged up almost all the time. I sometimes fancy them. But i think criminal lawyers spent a lot of time at courtrooms and jails and police stations. Civil Law is more like a day to day office work where you sit in your chamber and handle interrogation and reports etc. Civil cases rarely get to reach the court and most of them are settled outside of court. And, corporate law, which i think is quite lucrative is working in a corporate doing legal research and helping corporates in legal matters. So, it's all a matter of choice and what you think you would be comfortable with. I would suggest you to do some in-depth research, maybe read some law blogs and get as much information which will help you narrow down your choice for an area of specialization. There are some really good and informative law blogs that will help you. Best wishes!
