"Shyster" probably is an inappropriate term to use here as was done by someone else. So just ignore it.
First of all you have to study law in a good law college, and during/after graduation you can also study the basics of other disciplines like pharmacology, medicine, chemical engineering etc and for each of these vast areas of problems, there are specialized books, and laws governing their conduct. So if you get a case involving a pharmaceutical company, you & your assistants have to do a literature search to see what are the precedents, and use those cleverly to win your case. Someone suing food companies for various reasons should also read some areas of toxicology. But you can always get proper advice from experts in these fields to use for your cases.
