What Virus Protection Program Do You Recommend?

Postby Dane » Tue Jan 21, 2014 1:51 pm

I use Avast Antivirus Protection.  I am running Vista Ultimate and have had no problems and no viruses.  It's FREE for the home user - you can't beat it. I have had not problems at all. I used to use Symantec but when I switched to Vista Ultimate the version I had was incompatible. I was already using Avast on my laptop. Try it - what have you got to loose?

AVG Free. I've used it for several years, with no problems whatsoever. http//free.grisoft.com/ They also make AVG Pro, which costs about $70 for a two-year subscription, or $53 for a one-year subscription.  The Pro version does offer more features than the Free version, but I?ve used AVG Free on my personal computers for several years now(ever since McAffee stopped offering free updates to their VirusScan program) and I?ve never had an infection on any computer that?s had AVG installed.  It automatically updates itself, and warns you if it?s been unable to connect to the Internet to download recent updates, so you?ll never be without a fully up-to-date virus scanner.  They also offer a free spyware scanner.  Visit them at http://free.grisoft.com/ Sources: Personal experience.
