When are we changing our 4th July independence day?

Postby nann » Wed Jul 11, 2012 7:01 pm

The current political situation in the US is an insult to the great fathers of this nation who sought to keep the population independent of the slavery brought about by large corporations!
http://www.addictinginfo.org/2012/07/10/…

(Excerpt) "After the nation’s founding, corporations were granted charters by the state as they are today. Unlike today, however, corporations were only permitted to exist 20 or 30 years and could only deal in one commodity, could not hold stock in other companies, and their property holdings were limited to what they needed to accomplish their business goals. And perhaps the most important facet of all this is that most states in the early days of the nation had laws on the books that made any political contribution by corporations a criminal offense".

Should we make 4th of July a national day of mourning instead for what was once a great nation?
Is there any hope of electing representatives to Government who do not work for only corporate interests and have the public interest at heart?

A huge number of things changed, in the 1980's... One major thing, that changed for me.. After a life time, of being a Republican, I was no longer one... In the 80's, the party's, "completely" traded places.. In 64, when LBJ signed into law, the Civil Rights Act... Is when the party's started trading places, by the time the old southern Democrat, or in this case Dixiecrat Reagan was elected, on the Republican ticket... The party's had traded places, completely... It all started being about busting unions, right to work states, meaning slave labor... Its not gone back to what was considered normal, sense...
