When I move my neck my upper back hurts(spinal cord)?

Postby zackary42 » Fri Oct 28, 2011 2:07 am

Well I was breakdancing a bit and did a headstand. When i was falling over(on my back), i stayed on the back of my head for like 1 sec and then i felt a pain on my back. Now when i move my neck it hurts my upper back( I think it might be my spinal cord) I'm only 14 and I don't want a back injury right now. Please help? I can't go to the doctor ( my parents have no income, but were not poor either) Is there anyway I can fix this? i thought sleeping was the answer :3 and than slept for 2 hours and its still there maybe even worse than before. Is this permanent?

Probably not. You most likely pinched a nerve, or pulled or bruised something. If you're not having any paralysis or anything like that then I would give it a few days. If you start losing feeling or motion in any body parts then lay flat and call for an ambulance right away. If it's been a few hours and you're still functioning I'm guessing your spine is fine.

Some things to try are aspirin or advil and a hot shower. Also things like muscle rub or even Vick's Vapo rub and a hot hot washcloth. Try to get the muscles to relax. It should get better in a few days but may take longer.

Let your parents know that you think you pulled a muscle and show them what hurts. That's what they're there for.
