Go to a Optometrist Take your child to the best childrens Optometrist you can find. Think about this for a minute...God gave you only two eyes and no spare parts...If your hearing goes bad you can get a hearing aid....If your teeth go bad you can get dentures.....If your eyes are not properly cared for you go BLIND. When you go to the Optometrist you get someone who has treated many people with many different problems. He most likely has a Certified Optician working with him that person had to study very hard to get her certification and has to take continueing classes to keep it. The Optician asks you what kind of things your child likes, what sports ect. She measures your childs glasses by makring the optical centers of your childs eyes so that the optical centers will be in the right spot for the child to see as well as posable when wearing the glasses. She trains your child about wearing, handleing her glasses as well as cleaning the glasses. She tells you to bring in the child and glasses if the child bends them in anyway so that the glasses can be refit to your child. When you go to the One Hour place you get someone who was last week working in the store down the way that sells cd?s. If you are lucky she has had six hours of training in optics, but sorry to say in most cases it is more like read this book on optics and you can sell today. The person who waits on you asks what color frame do you want? She may or may not measure the optical centers of your childs eyes. If he measures it is only the right eye and then doubles the measurement. At pick up they just hand you the glasses, no check for fit, no care information. I bet you that the center of your eyes are not exactly the same distance from the middle of your nose....Look in a mirror and use a ruler. If you are not looking out of the optical center of the lens in glasses you are looking out the wrong percription for your eyes. Who do you think will do a better job of protecting your childs sight? Your Child needs a replacement part for her glasses it has been almost a year from the time she got them.. You go to the Optometrist no problem he has a part to fix the frame till a new part can be ordered. You pay only for the new part when it comes in.The Optician tells you that is is almost time to come in for a new exam but with the new part on the glasses that if your childs eyes have changed you can still use the same frame. You go to the One Hour place more that likely the person that waited on you has gone to a better paying job. If the One Hour place still stocks the frame you must by a whole new frame , if the frame is not in stock you have to buy a whole new pair of glasses and because it is almost a year you should realy get a exam and buy new glasses.
