Why am I being treated differently after I just started losing weight?

Postby cumhea » Thu Mar 08, 2012 9:49 pm

Well, as the title says, it's starting to occur to me. I've officially lost 10-22 pounds, and Im still losing, and I notice I'm being treated more differently. Males have been being more attention to me, actually flirting and hitting on me. Before, I was the butt of every fat joke or completely ignored. Now, They keep chatting me up and being polite. Same with girls. Before, they gave me the cold shoulder. Now, they're chatting my ear off too. Even my teachers, especially including male, have been more respectful and paid more attention to me than before...
And random strangers smile and say hi to me now. Please don't get me wrong, I appreciate being treated better more...
But this is really p'ing me off. Why am I being treated differently after I started losing weight? And yes, I am a very obese girl. I'm not slandering myself, I'm being legit. I've finally started losing weight.
So, why the hell are people treating me different?? Am I all of a sudden special now?

Maybe you are carrying yourself differently with more confidence and have a glow about you that people are finally seeing, this could be more noticeable because you feel better about you...people notice confidence and sadly attack those who lack it....Maybe they just aren't sure how to say "Good job"!

Your body is a reflection of the type of person you are. If you're obese, and therefore, unhealthy, you look like someone who doesn't care about their well-being. Your appearance is an impression, whether you like it or not.

Also, you're probably more attractive now. When someone is pleasing to the eye, others are more inclined to be nice to them. Think of a cat and a snake - which would you rather be around? Most people would be around the cute, furry cat.

It may seem unfair, but it's life. And anyways, eating healthy and exercising isn't that hard, anyways, and it's good for you.

I went through the same thing. I had to lose weight for a job and went from a (very comfortable) 135 pounds to a (horrible, and thankfully short-lived) 115 pounds. All of a sudden I was booking jobs, my friends were inviting me out more, the guy I'd had a crush on for months made a move... People just start to treat you differently.
It has to do with a few different things: Firstly, people are more attracted to you. Secondly, this attraction is making you more confident, and confidence attracts. The more confident you are, the more attractive you appear.
So it's not just that you're losing weight, it's also likely that your attitude has changed.
Try not to be too upset with people who are treating you better. It's a natural human tendency to gravitate towards confident, happy people. They don't mean to treat you poorly when you gain weight, and probably don't notice that they treat you better when you're smaller. It's not a conscious decision.

Lets face it. Sorry we look better when were smaller. Doesn't mean were any better. People like pretty. I have lost 130 lb.s.
I don't like it either.

Well, I have two things to say.

1. People are usually more attracted to a thinner individual.

2. People of all types have an inner disgust of people who don't look attractive.
