You are absolutely right. The only reason I can think of is that there are many, many people out there with little going for themselves except trying to "put down" other people in order to convince themselves that their own lives aren't so pathetic. So many of the responses violate Y!/A guidelines that I don't even see how they get published.
I've received excellent, helpful responses to most of my questions, though there are almost always a few silly answers, but that's OK. It's up to me to read them all, use what I can use, and ignore the others. I've only "reported" one really vile response.
I have to candidly admit that I have been guilty of reponding untactfully on a couple of occasions myself, but I was never "reported" for one of those. The one and only time I've had a response removed was for something so innocuous that I can't even remember what it was...I just know that it was NOT hateful, and I thought it was a very appropriate answer. But, someone else obviously did not.
Ignore the rude (and, obviously, very immature or troubled) people!
I've explained this many times; the common sense answer to that is, this is a public site, online, there are many people here answering, all types, for all reasons and a certain amount of rudeness is par for the course on any site. youtube is the worst in my experience but anyway, the only solution is to not ask questions on any public site or if you do, be prepared to have rude responses and just deal with it. Block them, report them, ignore them. All you can do if you still want to ask questions, goes with the territory.
