Why can't we just abolish minimum wage and child labor laws?

The decision as to whether or not a child should go to school or work in a factory or a farm full time is a decision best left to the parents of the child, not the government.

Even before the laws were introduced, parents were by and large against it anyway, because they knew the economic benefits were better if they sent them to school.
