Why do Conservatives support Rick Perry when he supports amnesty for illegal aliens?

Perry expressed his pride in the enactment of the statute extending in-state tuition to children of undocumented workers. He said: We must say to every Texas child learning in a Texas classroom, “we don’t care where you come from, but where you are going, and we are going to do everything we can to help you get there.” And that vision must include the children of undocumented workers. That’s why Texas took the national lead in allowing such deserving young minds to attend a Texas college at a resident rate. Perry has opposed the creation of the Mexico – United States barrier, which is meant to keep out illegal aliens. Perry said the Arizona immigration law SB 1070 “would not be the right direction for Texas” and would distract law enforcement from fighting other crimes.

Really almost no national politicians have any different stance. I like a lot of stuff he says, and I suppose it wouldn't be smart for him politically. In all honesty, almost any of the potential candidates would have the same weakness. And that includes some people that rarely take flack for it.
Gingrich and Palin have the same position.
Texas is awesome, and it's awesome for a reason. Clearly they deal with the illegal population better than California and Jerry Brown.
Like has been said, that was 10 years ago. People aren't in the mood for that today.

Perry is going to crash and burn at some point. Something about the man tells me he is a huckster, had the same feeling about Clinton.

This man has a history. Well, I guess it should be expected - just look at Bush's past with young boys. Why it is pushed under the rug, I don't know, but it's sick. White males as a whole have a problem, esp. ones living in hot climates where they never belonged in the first place. Heat + white skin = fried brains.
