Why do European countries allow asylum seekers?

I am actually an asylum seeker and this is note a hate question towards immigrants, i am asking this because i wanted to know why European countries allow asylum seekers, because it seems like all citizens of the European countries seem to hate immigration starting from the leaders. So, why can't they just say no to immigration or toughen up their rules like the UAE, ISRAEL and other countries? Are they forced by international law to accept asylum seekers, even though 99% of asylum seekers are asking asylum for economic reasons? What would happen if France, Swiss or Germany say they don't want to allow immigrants

They allow it because it's somehow financially beneficial, why else would they? I'm hoping that some day they'll realise that inviting all the world's poorest people to come and live here isn't the best way to help them and isn't good for the future of our country.
