I asked what is the difference between relief and damages. Someone here told me damages is only the injury NOT what you receive as compensation for injury, a loss, etc. That seemed fishy to me I then went and looked up damages in blacks law dictionary. I found out that definition is wrong. Black law dictionary says, "A pecuniary compensation or indemnity, which may be recovered"
Someone else on here told me you can't sue in Federal court using state laws. I then went and did 2 days of research on that at the law library. I found out that you can. There is something called "supplemental jurisdiction". Its even a federal law that is codified at 28 USC §1367. Which came as a result of the US supreme court case United Mine Workers of America v. Gibbs, 383 U.S. 715 (1966).
