Why do politicians think stricter gun laws will save people?

Postby delron » Thu Jul 26, 2012 10:52 pm

statistics show states with easier gun control laws have lower crime rates and vice versa. your taking protection away from the people because i don't seem to recall criminals following laws. how can people that are supposedly so smart have such stupid common sense?

Because you have liberals that seem to forget that this is a free country and that they think they have the right to deny you your constitutional rights. Go tell a liberal to stop having kids because were already over populated and that the kids they have are going to be consuming too many resources. Watch how fast they tell you your crazy....

@Geta life....

"Much research shows that easier gun availability equates to higher homicide rates,the opposite of what you say. It is a public health issue"

This isnt the issue. The issue is that we live in a free country where NOBODY should have the right to tell people what they can have or what they cant. Our 2nd Amendment was created for the sole purpose of making sure private citizens had a way to protect themselves from invaders, both foreign and domestic. Your links are worthless and you dont even address the issue. So, back to the original posters question, poiticians completely ignore the 2nd Amendment because of their own ignorance and stupidity. Chicago has soaring violence with daily shootings by gangs and politicians think that by outlawing guns will stop it? How about doing something about the gangs and stop trying to create laws that affect law abiding citizens???

They know that it doesn't help anything. They just want ALL guns out of the hands of the populace so tyranny can be put into effect.

Much research shows that easier gun availability equates to higher homicide rates,the opposite of what you say. It is a public health issue.

EDIT:Your anecdotes are interesting and explain your position as a gun owner,but they do not prove anything.

If you use statistics to prove a point, it's not common sense.

If you don't understand the statistics and use them blindly, you're the ignorant one.

In New york (a state with more rigid gun control), they've found that many of the guns used in violent crimes have come from other states (Mainly virginia) where there are lax gun controls. So people travel across state lines, and buy guns where it's easier. States with limited gun control laws are aiding crime in other states.
