Why do so many people oppose SB1070?

SB1070 isn't racist, its just with the intent of trying to secure AZ's border. I am all for it. Illegal immigration is a big problem, yes the average people arent bad, but the criminals are terrible. Some of the mutilate others for fun, and the cartel wars from Mexico are spreading to the U.S.

Also, how is it racist? Please, if you oppose this law, explain

I do not oppose the law, but I'll explain.

The reasoning behind this is that it would lead to "racial" profiling. Since the overwhelming majority of illegal immigrants in the U.S. are Hispanic, it would lead to police questioning mostly Hispanics, even those who are lawfully present or even US citizens.

I'm an immigrant and a US citizen, and I personally had absolutely no problems with police questioning me about my immigration or citizenship status, so I'm with you on that one.

It is not racist to demand those entering our Country show proof they have permission to be here. We have a serious problem with illegals and Arizona is on the front line. Most of Arizona police officers and border patrol are hispanic, so the racial profiling crap is because they want open borders to allow all in without respect for the financial hardships caused.
