Why does the NRA support the ability for people on terrorist watch lists to buy guns?

Postby denys » Mon Jul 30, 2012 7:01 am

I'm talking about the official position of the NRA, which, by the way, is different from the position held by actual NRA members.

The majority of NRA rank-and-file members (71 percent) say they support the barring of people on terror watch lists from purchasing firearms, and a slightly smaller majority (65 percent) believe gun owners should be required by law to alert the police in the event their gun is lost or stolen.

However, the NRA’s Washington office opposes both of these efforts.

Knowing how libs worked, if this passed, 90% of conservatives would find themselves on a watch list and the gestapo kicking in our doors to seize our guns. Good thing most of my guns and other supplies are not near my house.

Obviously that office is in the minority.

You do realize though that everyone from Conservatives to Christians to Pro-Lifers are considered "terrorists," by the current paranoid Admin, don't you?

Who makes the terrorist watch list? Is it the same people that make the "no fly" list? There are a lot of people that are on the "No fly" list that can not fly and have never done anything illegal. They do not even get due process. So even though it appears that 71 percent of the members do not care about their constitutional rights, the NRA does support EVERYONE having their constitutional rights. I am not and have never been a member of the NRA.

The NRA does not support terrorist ability to buy guns, I will give you this the NRA and its stance on many things, with out the knowledge they have, seem illogical. As an example they are AGAINST reciprocity of Concealed carry permits between states, why you might ask, because it gives the government a data base of EVERY concealed carry permit in the country. Also provide the link proving what you said, I googled "Most NRA members support criminal background checks of gun buyers" and got 2,000,000 plus hits I am not wading through that.

Probably because the NRA has become a front for the Drug Cartels. They pour money into the NRA and use it to make sure they continue to outgun the US law enforcement community.

You contradict yourself. The NRA and the Washington Office are not the same entities. In fact you try to deceive by not identifying Washington as the State or District of Columbia. The official position of the NRA is readily available to you or anyone else.

The nra is out of control. Criminal background checks don't work. I am a sharp shooter and won't have anything to do with them. They are afraid that if they take the assault weapons away the hunters will be next. Who knows what will happen then. Just the police have guns? I think we should give everyone a muscat.
