Postby curney13 » Fri Dec 20, 2013 5:16 pm

Roundabouts operate really well in Europe and other countrys. They keep targeted traffic moving along alternatively of waiting for a light to modify!

Who is "we"? Traffic Circles / Roundabouts / Rotaries, while not as common as traffic lights, do exist in the United States.

Why Don't We Have Roundabouts As Opposed To Traffic Lights?

Postby xing » Sat Dec 21, 2013 4:55 pm

yes, in a Very tiny group close to me, that does not really have a genuine downtown or their personal college program or the other formalities of "location-hood" they have a roundabout at one of their interesections. It has been regarded by our city planners as a targeted traffic calming device, but have not done so however due to the fees.

Let Us Have Roundabouts In The Place Of Traffic Lights?

Postby faegan63 » Tue Dec 24, 2013 12:38 pm

I do not think Americans have the patience and or the etiquette for this you had basically find people cutting across every single other anyhow and usually not following a path of the roundabout. There are several cities in Pennsylvania which had roundabouts(or at the quite least one thing comparable) but have given that reconfigured the streets for conventional traffic lights. You may well need undoubtedly to receive incident information to discover out where or not the roundabout itself was a probable aspect to any incidents. Why Don't We Have Roundabouts Instead Of Traffic Lights?

You'd just find individuals cutting across a single one more anyway and normally not following the path of the roundabout. There are numerous towns in Pennsylvania which had roundabouts(or at least something similar) but have since reconfigured the roads for traditional visitors lights. A single would have to procure accident statistics to figure out exactly where or not the roundabout itself was a most likely contributor to any accidents.

Why Don't We Have Roundabouts Instead Of Traffic Lights?

Postby Westleah » Wed Feb 05, 2014 10:48 am

There are roundabouts in the US and they can be dangerous. They do have roundabouts or rotaries in the United States. They are very common in New England, particular in the Boston area. I lived there for several years and would not trade regular intersections for the world. At least with waiting for a light to change everyone knows the rules, with a rotary it is sometimes about who drives the most aggressively gets through. Many people who think they have the right of way do not, you have to anticipate people who appear to be leaving the rotary and do not, plus the other people not paying attention. Rotaries can be very dangerous once a bus enters the mix too. On some streets, construction vehicles and tractor trailers are not allowed along that route but often they are.Perhaps things are better in Europe as the rotaries may be larger. But in the US, at the busier intersections it can be like "taking your life in your hands."I will stick with waiting for the light where people can sort of take a breather versus going back to driving around rotaries. newbie4594975 75 months ago Please sign in to give a compliment.
