Why Has Walmart Remained Out-Of Nyc, Nyc?

Postby cretien70 » Sun Jan 05, 2014 5:38 pm

Can't determine why Wal-Mart hasn't launched in to the Nyc region. The nearest location is on Long Island, more than 15 miles away. They'd have an enormous client base inside the five boros due to the truth we're oversaturated with Kohls, Target, Macy's and JCPenney, and a large-box retailer like Walmart would be deemed a welcomed addition to the income-conscious towns with substantial families. Any concepts?

Why Has Walmart Stayed Out Of New York City, Ny?

You answered your own query. They are currently oversaturated with other stores, and clearly do not consider they will do enough enterprise with all of the competitors.(Target IS a massive box retailer.)

Why Has Walmart Stayed Out Of New York City, Ny?

There is a very simple explanation. New York is a union state and Walmart is known for being non union.  There was talk of Walmart tying to open a store in the City last year and there was such an outcry that Walmart changed their minds about forcing the issue.   Most New Yorkers are happy with discount stores such as Target and Kohls.  These stores are not about to welcome Walmart with open arms. Macy's and J.C. Penny could care less since they are in a different league entirely.
