THE COSTS OF MEDICAL MALPRACTICE LAWSUITS. THIS PROBABLY THE BIGGEST REASON FOR THE HIGH COSTS OF MEDICAL CARE IN THIS COUNTRY. WHEN I WAS IN WYOMING I PICKED A NEWSPAPER AND IN IT WAS ARTICLE ABOUT ONE INSURANCE COMPANY DROPPING MALPRACTICE INSURANCE AND ANOTHER PICKING IT UP. THE PREMIUMS WERE HIGHER THAT WHAT MOST PEOPLE MAKE IN A YEAR.

Several things are responsible for astronomical health care costs, including frivolous law suits. The pharmaceutical industry is a big part of the equation, as well as the greedy owners of HMO's who deny treatment to increase profits. How many TV commercials do they need to show before people realize we are being assaulted with medical problems relating to nearly every inch of the body? And, if they were not effective, would they do so much advertising?

It's not necessary to shout. Actually malpractice suits are not the biggest factor in the rise in medical costs. The GOP is just generically against any kind of liability for any big corporation.

ah, just like the old days, when shaman doctor is the main role of society, his word can't be argued, because his knowledge were everything that people believes in.

you can argued them now, but it'll cost you a fortune, beside a doctor always had this certain aura (and exclusive group of educated) that makes you feel stupid, enough to make most of the insurance investigator gave up, while the others who weren't back down demand higher payment. simple and true.

It's not. Health insurance companies are the single highest percentage of health care costs in this country. They take 33% of our health care dollars and use the money to deny health care to people who need it.

It would take very little effort to bring down malpractice insurance if the country had the will to police doctors and get rid of incompetent ones, who get sued over and over again. ?°)
