Why is immigration more restictive in other countries?

i know the arguement for immigration as a vehicle for the economy to grow and for people to become more prosperous. what is the arguement against liberal immigration laws, as most countries are very restrictive as to allowing people to settle in their country.

Who hires them, Americas. There is a demand in capitalism which comes before people wanting stricter laws.
