We are shooting a film in the midwest and are looking for people to do various work (like picking up equipment, assisting makeup artists, aiding DP's, etc.) at first everyone is excited when we tell them its a film, but after we explain that its not as glorious as they may think they say they don't want to do it. Its been 5 days, interviewed over 50 people, no one wants to do the "dirty work", that includes bringing coffee and such, so its not all bad. I thought we were in a recession and everyone is crying about not enough work. we pay well, I don't get it. In New York or L.A it will take me 1 day to fill all these jobs, but in Indiana, it takes 5 days and no one wants to work and make money, yet they cry that they have no money... what's going on? P.S - more then 10 people who are not allowed to work in the U.S. (I assume they are illegal, but I can't tell) jumped on the opportunity, but we can't hire them because the producer wants everything to be legit.
