I think in a country that worships money, bans won't matter and they haven't. Have enough funds and you'll be able to buy everything from drugs to guns to teenage run a ways sold into slavery. For the crimes our country produces we have only to look ourselves in the mirror collectively.

Not really. Homicide is already banned, as is rape, battery assault and every other violent crime. Criminals could care less about laws.

Based on statistical evidence, they will be a lot more effective. For instance, check the list below, which lists the number of firearm-related homicides of various countries. The UK, which has very strong gun control, had 14 gun-related homicides last year. The USA had 9369. Even factoring the population difference in, that is a staggering difference (if the US had the same number per capita, it would have had less than 100 gun related homicides).
