Will the gym let me cancel my contract?

Postby golding » Fri Jul 27, 2012 2:16 am

Last week I injured my knee at a personal training session at the gym. It was absolutely the trainers fault (he pretty much trapped me in this exercise), and I told him multiple times "this isn't possible, I need to stop" but he wouldn't let me up. I was wedged between him and a huge tire he wanted me to leg press across a carpet; but the tire kept getting stuck! And I wasn't even trying to push anymore after a while, I was just sitting there stuck saying that the tire won't move. Finally after five minutes of being unable to move this thing he let me up, and my knee immediately hurt. I haven't been back since. I went to an urgent care doctor, they said its a severe ligament sprain. They said I need to limit driving, stay off my feet as much as possible, and wear an immobilizer most of the day. I'm an RN so that makes my job very difficult. Anyway, I'm going to talk to the trainer and management at the gym today about ending my personal training contract as well as my gym contract due to an injury caused by a trainer at their facility. Do you think the gym will give me any trouble?

They might not give you any trouble they know they are staring at a possible lawsuit in the face

Most gyms have a policy to suspend a membership or in your case, stop it. The trainer will probalby deny it but you have medical proof. The trainer is a complete idiot. I also so to a gym where the trainer is excellent and never pushes a person past their fitness level. Also, he should have stopped immediately. ( i found this out form my own personal fitness expert!!)
