Will this new internet law serve the purpose of government policing the internet for copyright infringers?

Postby cleirach70 » Thu Apr 05, 2012 6:02 pm

i live in the uk and earlier i asked a question about this recent story in yahoo news to do with the government and ISP soon to be spying on all internet users in the uk.

here is the story and link ;

Backlash grows over GCHQ 'snooping'

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/monitoring-expansion-proposed-231042436.html

i expressed my concern over it as i am against any internet censorship at all.

i asked in the question ''how will it change online experiences for the average internet user? or will it effect nothing? '' '' do internet users now need to worry ? ''

i was even more worried when i got this answer from some user, i think in britain

''Personally I think this is more to do with the film and music industry back handing politicians into allowing policing of the internet and catch out the copyright infringers ''

what does anyone think about that ? could it be true what he said?

and id also appreciate answers to any other aspects of my question to.

i was worried because i have a lot of media on my pc more from the past.

The "media" on your computer wont be affected as its already been copied from the net, unless they want to backlog everyone's internet from the beginning of time ( not that isp's keep it for that long).

The new law will defiantly put me off using the internet. Not that Ive got anything to hide, its just an invasion of privacy thats all. In a country were your supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, by bringing in this law, the government are basically saying everyone is already guilty of something. What about all the data they store, how are we supposed to trust the government with our personal data when they continually "misplace" other sensitive data all the time.
