Woman keeps knocking at my Door?

Ok, I couldn't think of a better title for this. I moved into my first apartment about a month ago, leaving my abusive mother to find her own place to stay. I've been paying rent for the last several years, so she doesn't even have the right to say she's taken care of me for the past few years.
So for the past several days she's shown up at my door, screaming at me through the door and jiggling the doorknob. When I answered she would try to force her way into my apartment without my permission.
She's currently banging down my door, screaming obscenities at me, at 9:30 at night. This is a complex, too, so she can very well get me evicted. Or at least get me into trouble.
She was an abusive parent when I was growing up and I left to get away from her. Someone told her where I live. I'm about ready to call the police and have her escorted off the property. However it seems too extreme.

What should I do?

Call the cops on her. She doesn't have the right to treat you like that.

I think you should call the police, have her removed from the property, and file a restraining order against her.

If she is willing to go to counseling and try to change her ways, show her some support, but it doesn't mean you have to let her into your home. If she changes for the better and turns herself around, then I can understand giving her another chance, but until then, showing some tough love is going to be best for her and for you.

How sad that "she" is putting you in an awful position.

Since she is screaming obscenities at 9:30pm at night you need to document how often
she comes around...(do not answer the door whatever you do).

Then if it gets really bad you will need to call the police. That is the only option.

Is there any documentation that says she is an abusive parent??? (Maybe your Dad can vouch for you).

If you feel like you are in danger (I would), then call the police. I would also have a restraining order filed against her...

You should call the police. She's creating a disturbance and harassing you.

Take out a restraining order first. Then if she continues to come around call the police . It is more effective if you have the restraining order because she is then clearly breaking the terms and the police can then act on it. Without the restaining order she is just a nuisance and the police may not be able to do a great deal about it.

It may sound extreme and you may be reluctant to do it but my advice is for you to take control and stop being the victim.
