Work place requirements for time off?

Postby orson19 » Tue Jul 24, 2012 10:16 am

I live in South Carolina, and work very hard at my job. Too hard 90% of the time that I wear myself completely out. There have been many days that I leave here at 7am after working an 8 hour shift and have to come right back in at 2, sometimes 3, and every now and then 4. Friends, relatives, and acquaintances have told me that this is against the law, and yet I cannot find anything about it online, or what I have found, says that there is no law against this.

So, I'm posing this question to the Yahoo answers community, is this illegal?
Another question, how often are you required to have a day off? This is day 2 of a nonstop 14 day work schedule ahead of me.

google your state board of labor web for
valid info.

if u hourly one set of rules apply,
different if salary.

sounds like u will be looking for new job
come Monday if u want to live.

if SC is 'right to work' = u got no rights.

all things considered - employer is as smart
as a brick.

In the United States there is no time between shift requirements. 6 hours is usually considered acceptable but people do double shifts all the time with no time off between shifts.

Additionally, there is no days off requirement. Some states have special overtime regulations for working 7 days in a row in a payperiod or for working on Sundays.

there are a few states that require a one day off in 7 but SC is not one of them, there are a very few occupations that do require a certain amount of time in between shifts such as truck driver, pilot, etc, SC is an at will state which menas they need no reason to fire you, Right to work means you do not have to join a union to work
