I recently ran into some issues at work and would like input in what I should do. I will be totally honest because that is the only way I can get legitimate feedback. I work at my university taking phone calls. About five months ago this lady got put in charge of the phone techs. She is an adviser in the office. Previously, another tech was in charge, but she basically only did scheduling. This adviser never seemed to like me for some reason. She started watching me like a hawk and telling me I could never get up from my desk because it was busy and would grill me when she saw me going to the bathroom and would watch how many calls I had queued on my phone when I got up. It was August, so we were really busy starting the school year. The phones would never slow down at the time. My supervisor never has told me not to do these things or that I could never get up from my desk. She has made me feel uncomfortable. I have worked there for 4 years. I got called into the office after my shift for a write up. Granted, there were a few legitimate issues in the write up, which I take responsibility for, but there are several problems I feel need to address with her or a higher up that were discussed in the write up.
First, was the issue of tardiness. I have been about five minutes late coming in. I understand the importance of being on time, so this is probably one of the legit issues. My problem is that most of the higher ups are late, too. Another adviser who was in the office with me said that she is often tardy, too. No one but this lady has ever said anything to me about it before, and I worked there for a long time. This is not an excuse, and I wouldn't bring this argument up to higher ups, but it does bug me. The not legit issue was me clocking out early. She highlighted for me the times I did in a report, but those times I got express permission from her to leave 5-10 minutes early in order to attend a class that began when my shift was scheduled to end. I can't believe she didn't remember that. She also wrote that I was rough with the equipment and people have witnessed it, but she never told me what I allegedly did. I never broke anything of mine or anyone else's, so I don't know what the problem is. Another issue is my desk cleanliness. I feel that I have kept it in good condition. If it was unusable because of my neglect, I would understand getting written up, but it is not. I think there issue is me eating at my desk a lot, which in the past I have had to do because I have several hours of class after my shift. I doubt this lady would allow me to eat in the break room in order to keep my desk cleaner. A year ago, my supervisor talked to me about this and I have made sure it is clean. I straighten my desk before I leave and have put disinfectant wipes on my desk in order to make sure it is acceptable. This should be a non issue now because I have been spoken about it and taken immediate corrective action a year ago. This is no longer an issue because I recently graduated, so I go home for lunch now and no longer need to eat at my desk. Another issue is that viruses have popped up on my computer several times. Now, this is legitimate, but again, my supervisor has spoken to me about it and we discussed measures I should take. The incident happened two months ago. I am not supposed to download things on my computer, which I have not. Honestly, I got the viruses by accident simply from surfing the web. When it happened the last time, I felt sick and was very stressed about it. I don't even know what I would download if I wanted to. If I felt I need a program placed on a computer, I have always had a work order written up for it. It seems like it has happened when I get a new computer which makes me think there wasn't enough anti-virus protection on it.
I don't know what I should do. Should I just ignore the write up and just come in on time, since the rest of it has been resolved? Should I write a rebuttle and have it placed with the write up? Or sit down after Christmas and talk to her or my supervisor about the issues addressed here?
