Working for law enforcement?

Postby wilbart » Fri Nov 25, 2011 7:53 am

I want to work as a police officer in california. but i have been reading that they do extensive back round checks. i have no criminal back round only 1 traffic ticket and 1 parking ticket. but i did notice that they also base hiring on credit. i was wondering what credit score do you need in order for you to be considered as a candidate. my credit score is not so good im in collection.

DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE CREDIT OR THE TICKET. THAT IS THE LAST 2 THING'S YOU GO THROUGH. IF YOU ARE A STRONG MINDED PERSON AND CAN HANDLE IR OWN THAT'S WHAT THEIR LOOKING FOR. YOU GOT TO BE IN GOOD SHAPE MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY. YOU CAN'T LET CRIMINALS GET TO YOU. SO GO FOR IT BE ALL YOU CAN BE LIKE THEY SAY IN THE ARMY!!!

You really shouldn't work as a police officer. As some philosophers such as myself believe, power tends to corrupt. Also, police would have no reason to exist if the people were satisfied and not jealous, and thus no crime would take place.

First off most departments have dropped the credit score thing. Your Information is old. LAPD did last year. Second not all departments used the system
They all do look at gaps in your work/school record and want to know what you were doing.
BTW all departments like to see volunteerism in your past.
