Would changing the date to my court date a good idea?

i have a traffic ticket & i dont want to pay it so it wont stay on my drving record & so it wont affect my insurance. I was thinking about getting a attorney & they would only charge me 50$ but I also heard about people changing the court dates & theres a chance a police officer might not show up & the ticket would be dismissed! any ideas of what i should do?
