Postby sebastiano » Sun May 06, 2012 7:01 pm

I have been having pain in my right side since the day after Christmas. I went to my dr and she treated it as a pulled musel if you know me then you know it wasnt that lol. Anyways i kept following up with her and she kept giving me a staroid shot and would send me on my way. Finaly in late march she took a xray and it didnt show anything but my spin being a little bent the radiologcy said it was fine. So i was still treated as a pulled musel...I then went to a er and they gave me a cat scan and treated it as a pulled musel as well but didnt run blood test just as the other dr...i went in to her again a 2 weeks later and told her that my stoamch was hurting showed her were she said she didnt think it was a apendictes and said it was the stoamch bug and sent me on my way (i had symptoms of appenacites...That night i went to the er and they did a cat scan they said they didnt know how the other er dr missed this...i had a sever infection in my stoamch that had been there in the other catscan it looked to be there for awhile and it was around my intestants appendix and so forth they gave me meds and sent me on my way...it kept getting worse so i wemt to another er a few days later they sent me to a surgan while waiting to get into the surgan for a few days i went to the last hospital that we have here and they said i had been treated for colites...they as well sent me on my way...they did say they thought i was having a nonemergancy pendcites...anyways the surgan said he was going to go in micro copicaly and look to see what was going on...he went in and i woke up with him having to take my appendix out...bc it was going to bust...can i sue my pcp and the first er hospital, and that dr.....

No. Just because they had trouble diagnosing you right away doesn't mean they were negligent. In addition, what damage did you suffer that you need to be reimbursed for?

No. It's not negligence or malpractice.

You didn't have the signs or symptoms that would make an appendectomy necessary on an emergency basis. (If it had been inflamed and ready to burst, it darn sure would have taken two or three weeks to "almost" burst.)

You were not diligent in seeking medical attention with regard to this. You have the absolute right to obtain a second opinion - and if the steroid injections weren't helping, you should have asked for a referral to another doctor.

But, as it was, you eventually got the correct diagnosis and you weren't permanently injured or harmed.
