Would You Actually Resent Information About Celebrities, Large Offense Cases That Only Show Sensationalism And Surprise, Etc? Low-information?

I picture Iam speaing frankly about sensationalism in press typically, which I feel is in some cases used to maintain people from far more critical issues going on.I do not necesarily find dilemma with data addressing some of the unfavorable issues that occur to folks, particularly when it hints me into injustices, security measures, the predicament of numerous men and women within their difficulties in life. But I feel there's a kind of focus men and women have about things occurring that is really small substantially much more than voyerism which the media understands offers info, and I believe it is mainly unpleasant. It is why I seldom watch tv news.As an adolescent, I got a lot of laughs reading documents such as the Star and National Enquirer for that surely foundation and amusing tales located in a lot of half truths. A common Enquirer heading of mine was "Girl Discovers Guy in Drainpipe."

although it was understandable that suspicion of a murder in a death makes it news.  But, with all respect, the news about Michael Jackson's death was 24/7 for at least two weeks on every channel.  It was tragic but there were other things going on in the world that I wanted to know about like our two wars, the economy, etc.   Unfortunately, because of cable tv, there are 24/7 air waves to fill, a lot of it sensationalism and reality shows that are incredulous.  Let's stop feeding on the National Enquirer-type of news.  I find the type of political shows that Fox News does deplorable--not just because I'm a Democrat but because people making their living by slandering others don't appeal to me.  I used to work in television when you had to be non-judgmental--the Walter Cronkite years.  That's when people had respect for news journalism.

Do you mean like the coverage of Tiger Woods?I know about too many celebrities only because they become news. The really scary thing is I think that is what most people want. People can actually be a Facebook fan, or twitter or whatever other stupidity people can dream up. They need a life.I agree with sirpaul1.They have 24 hours to present the news and they cannot accomplish that without saving some garbage for the web. They want you hooked, so you never get the whole story at one time, they want you back.

Wow, ibstubro, you're as passionate about and disgusted by this as I am. I wanted to work the 24 hour aspect of tv news into my question but didn't bother, but you've characterized the insensitivity and manipulative nature of it very well. I worry about the psyche of people, and a country, and a society of countries, that has adjusted to this bizarre kind of presentation of what is going on in the world. I think it must be warped and desensitized. We worry about children and their exposure to video games, but to me, exposure to this kind of presentation of news seems almost if not just as violent and desensitizing, but for the fact that children's brains are still developing.

Yes, I do. Too much time and sensationalism on celebrities like Tiger Woods, Anna Nicole Smith & Michael Jackson, although it was understandable that suspicion of a murder in a death makes it news.
