3 Speeding Tickets in 6 months?

Postby ahanu » Tue Apr 17, 2012 12:31 pm

Hi, im 18 and have only had my licsense for 6 months. I got my first speeding ticket for 80 in a 65 2 months after i got my liscense. I got two more tickets in town. One in sunnyvale (santa clara county). Officer didnt get me by radar, he just heard my engine and saw me, he wrote me for "approx. 50+ im 35 25 school zone, I know i was not going over 45mph. He made a mistake on the ticket (there was no school zone, i checked over and over, its a park. The street perpendicular is a school zone). The 3rd ticket was in Newark (by fremont and union city, Ca). It was about 1 35 am and the road was empty and dry. I was again pulled over with no radar and the officer "aproxximated my speed for 60 in a 40". I know i did not go over 55. Can i get these two fines reduced to the proper speed at least? ie 50 in a 40 and the other ticket 45 in a 35 Non school zone! That would cut my fines down. Im in highschool and i dont make much money, just trying to have my correct punishment.

You think you don't have much money now? Just wait until you see what your insurance premiums go to.

Your "knowing" you weren't going that fast is of little value.Has your speedometer been calibrated?

You would be surprised how often people try to use the I was speeding, but wasn't going that fast. Guess what? You just confessed in court to speeding. Guilty. Courts tend to accept the estimate of a police officer where speed is concerned, especially when the suspect confesses in court. The speed zones are there for a reason, safety. Police officers write citations for one reason, to make people change bad , unsafe driving habits by hitting them in the pocket book. You don't like citations? Don 't violate the law, it is just that simple

No matter what, 3 tickets in half a year means in no uncertain terms that you are a bad driver. Go back to driving school.
