The company is a starter company with a unique brand in the debt collection industry in which concentration is in the small volume business owner instead of high volume where most collection agency strive for. After the company referenced my past employers they were genuinely amazed at my potential in recovery successes that I performed for past employers and don't understand why I haven't been picked up for employment for the past 2.5 years and I assume they eagerly want me on board as they continue to email me constantly instead of once a week. They also want me to fill out an application to keep for their files since I didn't fill one out to begin with and had only one phone interview which went fairly well after we scheduled to meet in person at a local starbucks. I made the error in scheduling without thinking of childcare for my son. I called back and spoke with the CEO and he assured me to bring my son along to the interview would not pose a problem as they're company is unique and family oriented. Well, needless to say we missed each other by 1min as my son became frustrated due to the recent heatwave we left the interview location in which the interviewer was running late himself. The interviewer happened to be the CEO had suggested to reschedule by sending an email request to his assistant and as soon as availability exists they will contact me. Knowing this is a kind way of saying I blew it whether they were running late I still emailed his assistant and continued with my job endeavors. However, that was 2 weeks ago and I recently received their email response congratulating my acceptance of employment without the formal interview. The strange thing is the email that was sent to me had no attachments as indicated in the email for the tax forms including the application. I have no problem calling them as it could have been a computer generated error in sending the email to me. But, if it wasn't there is fairly 2 problems that I can see. I never performed as an independent contractor and have no idea what the W9 pertains to and to my understanding every application has a question indicating whether I had an arrest or conviction in my past in which I do but its in no relation or reference toward the business necessity and in California the EEOC is making it mandatory that employers must prove they are allowing employees that are a perfect fit be given the opportunity to be proven for their skills unless their skills falls less than satisfactory. But, I understand the employers standpoint to liability and just because it falls short of a law not everyone follows the law and gets persecuted or punished by their actions e.g. the highway speeding limit is punishable by a fine if you go over the limit "IF" you are caught by a highway patrol man in the vicinity. How many of you have driven way passed the speeding limit when no patrol man in site... Well, you have broken a law but you're not persecuted for it.
My question is as I've been forward in choosing the honesty card since my departure from my last employer 2.5 years ago as my run-in with the law has transformed me to be more transparent and show no cause to be dishonest in which as a collector I've proven the industry wrong you don't badger or antagonize debtors in order to get your way. A much benevolent simple form with a customer-centric philosophy communicates with a customer service approach performs such wonders. Family and friends tiresome of my happy-go-lucky attitude are asking to consider not answering the question, evade it in order to attain employment are saying if I don't care for myself, I should care for my 2 year old son and get the job you bum. I'm allowing myself to be judged. So judge. Just know that this was the hardest question I was bold enough to ask.
