A few VPN "Virtual Private Network" questions?

Postby broehain61 » Fri Apr 20, 2012 3:16 am

I was reading about how Proxy servers work and I came across VPNs "Virtual Private Networks" I started to research it more and there are VPN services online. What's the difference between a VPN and a Proxy? The services claimed to make you truly anonymous, but how? They have servers in other countries too. Are you traceable on a VPN? if you connect to one of their servers in a foreign country are you to follow the Internet laws of the country the servers in or your own country?

Dig a lil more.....A VPN is a secure connection from point A to point B
the data in the VPN is encrypted

Google the two - many pages available

I use hidemyass.com if I want to masquerade my IP address (Proxy)

A few VPN "Virtual Private Network" questions?

Postby kendrix » Fri Apr 20, 2012 3:21 am

A VPN works a lot like a proxy, redirecting your traffic, assigning you a new IP, and making you anonymous while you surf on the Internet. However, VPN add levels of encryption that makes you even safer from spying and thieving. VPN providers have many servers in all parts of world which you can use. When you are connected on some VPN server your real IP address is hidden and all your traffic is encrypted.

I find Steaming VPN on of the best VPN providers with good technical support, and faster streaming solutions. I am happy watching Hulo outside my home country (UK) in Australia without any extra cost.
