Accounting Medical Malpractice Claims?

Postby han » Wed May 02, 2012 7:48 pm

My accounting book has a whole four paragraphs devoted to Medical Malpractice Claims and not one example. Here's the question: "A patient filed a malpractice claim against the hospital for $100,000, claiming the hospital food made her sick. The hospital attorneys believe the claim is without merit, and the hospital would prevail if it went to trial." How would I journal this?

Accounting Medical Malpractice Claims?

Your boss obviously made this statement (?) so we need to doctor it up a bit? It's a done-deal?
Ok
I don't know whether you're on the hospital's side or not, I presume not.
If you're expected to doctor it up, I would expect more cash in your future but you may feel wrong about it if you have morals. That said..make sure your boss knows what he's said and ask him about it and how you feel and/or proposition him at that point with an idea.

"A woman acclaims that the hospital food made her sick when the same food was administered to others and they showed no sign of anything out of the ordinary." That way, if you have that sort of information, you may be able to expound upon it. From what you have, it's hard to go on, I'll give you that.
The only way to excell in this life is to put your brain into it and create your own destiny.

Peace.
