Am i eligible for unemployment compensation?

Postby forde » Sat Apr 21, 2012 6:16 pm

Hi,

i was let go from my job (fired).. i worked there for 10 shifts.. made about 350 dollars in total.

but i may have left over credit from my last job.. that i got unemployment for.

The reason given for the termination was "they felt i was not retaining the information they were teaching me"

i was not very good at my job, i admit, but i feel i was far better then the managers gave me credit for.

every one who worked there has been there for 2 years, and they were alot better then i was... but i was learning.

i was slower then my peers.. but i was doing better each passing day.

i made some mistakes.. nothing too extream....

i made a sandwich by mistake, becuase i may have misheard what a fellow emplyee told me to make.

i forgot how long an order of frys were cooking, becuase i forgot press the timer hard enough to turn it on.

i screwed up a milkshake that had to be tossed.

but for the most part.... i didnt make too many mistakes.. not after my first 4 days.. or when things i did before

this is a fast food type of job.. we make burgers and frys and stuff.

we are trained in all the possistions.. so there was alot of different stuff to learn.

as i said.... the reason given for my termination was "they felt i was not retaining the information they were teaching me"

i feel they were somewhat mistaken.. and someone correct.

the managers would not let me work to my full abbility.. since they didnt think i was very good.... they kept making other co workers "help me".. but all they really did was prevent me from getting used to my job.

i dont need to know 5 different ways to flip a burger.. but since i had 5 different trainers... every day i was tought a new way to do the same thing.

the managers would watch me. they see i get confused.... they think i dont know what im doing.... becuase they see my co workers would correct me... even though im just doing what the last trainer showed me..... so i learn a totaly new way of putting cheese on a burger.... when really it would of been best for them to just back off and watch me work... rather then show me a new way to do the same thing.

i feel like i was constantly in training.... never moving forward.... every time the managers were out of sight.... i did fairly well.....learning how to manage things by my self..... but once the managers come back into the room.... they would hold me back by having yet another co worker show me yet a new way to do something i already knew how to do.

it was rather fusterating.

the day before i was fired..... the main manager that i never worked with before.... told me he was going to evulauate me.

so i started to work..... but instead of watching me work.... to see how well i could handle it..... he just told me ever indivdual move i should make.

it was confusing.... as i thought he would be watching me.... not telling me every move i should make.

i was trying to manage the grill by my self... keeping track of the orders... what burger needed to be fliped when.... what burger needed cheese... and when it needed it.

at the same time.... my manager was trying to managed the grill his own way.... by telling me what burger to flip.... when to put cheese on it... and so on.

if i knew he wanted me jus to do exactly what he said.... when he said it.... i woulda did that for him.

instead.... im trying to manage the grill..... the manager is trying to managed the grill.... and our 2 thought procceses were totaly different.

i try to put cheese on burger A... then put cheese on burger B..

the manager tells me put cheese on burger B... then burger A.. both ways are correct.... but i thought i was soposed to do my job and he would watch to see if i did it right.

when really.... i just didnt know that HE was going to be managing the grill.... and telling me exactly what to do. (more training....blah)

i was under the impresstion that i would do my job... and he would evaluate me...... i didnt realize that he was going to try to manage the grill over me.

how can he know how well i do the job.. if im not really doing the job.... just doing the exact motions he tells me to.

the regular manager that i worked with... she was very unprofesstional with me.

she would blame me for mistakes... but i was just doing what i was told by a more expieranced worker..... when i try to tell her this.... the manager would stomp away in a huff before i can explain i was just doing what i was asked.

i was told not to prep a fish sandwich... as they were doing something special to it.. so just leave it alone. well that co -worker clocked out... with no warning.... and im left wondering "what about the fish sandwich?"

then the normal manager walks in... yells at my for not making the sandwich... when i try telling her i was asked not to make it.. she stomps away before i can tell her.

can i get unemploymet
