Are all US laws available online?

Postby khalid » Sat Apr 21, 2012 12:17 am

US laws are very complicated. We got Federal laws, State laws, Bankruptcy laws, lemon laws, etc...

Then how can an average US citizen (not an expert of law) read US law?

I searched on internet, I found this website "loc.gov", click 1 link in it, it took me to "gpo.gov" which contain many documents of US gov in pdf format.

So, do "loc.gov" & "gpo.gov" contain all US legal documents?

Only way to access US legal documents is to visit Law library?

Do US gov plan to bring all US law on the internet?

I doubt that every single law in the US is online. First you have LOCAL laws(ordinances) as well. Some places are not going to put these up as there are about 10 people in the area. Second I am sure some laws that are no longer ever used or enforced aren't going to be put online. The fact is that they don't strike every law from the book when they should. It's easier to ignore that it's there then go through the process of removing it.
