Are homosexuals so insecure that they demand not just tolerance, but acceptance?

Postby fiacre68 » Thu Aug 02, 2012 5:46 am

I'll never treat a homosexual in contravention to the law, nor would I harass, but I believe homosexuality is a sin (and I concede that in most cases it's probably an immutable genetic quality) and I will never "believe" in same sex marriage.

Please keep in mind I have a libertarian view on marriage. I think the state should stay out of the bedroom and that marriage is a highly personal belief.

I would support the idea of two people of the same sex having the same rights that a heterosexual couple, or multiple partners would, I believe these would arise under contract, regardless of the gender of the parties, and not regulated by any state law.

It's complex, so liberal bigots should read it a bit before commenting.

So, how do you verify that something is a sin or that 'sin' is something real?

Sin sounds to me like a convention adopted by a set culture. A social agreement to relate in a particular way. If that is true, then such agreements can be changed to address the demands of a modern society instead of conforming to the requirements of a very ancient and abusive culture that seeks to dominate others by treating women as second class citizens, support slavery, and demand subservience to authoritarian rulers.

The state is already in the bedroom.

As a self-proclaimed libertarian, I dare you to try repeal opposite-sex marriage in any state. Let us know how it goes.

Also, that contract you want people to get is already out there, it's called a marriage license.

What you state you would support, is no more than they are asking for. It is your belief that contractually this would occur, that is flawed. Facts would state otherwise.
